Canadian team officially interested in Hurricanes' Jesperi Kotkaniemi
Jesperi Kotkaniemi has been underperforming recently but despite this, the Vancouver Canucks GM Patrick Allvin sees an upside in his game and is interested in trading for him.
Jesperi Kotkaniemi is coming off of one of the worst years of his career. Coming into the season he was expected to fill out as the Carolina Hurricanes second-line center but he fell short of this and was demoted to the fourth line where he spent most of the year.
Scoring only 27 points through 79 games, many thought that Kotkaniemi may get bought out this upcoming offseason but that does not seem to be the case and it actually looks like he may get traded with the Vancouver Canucks have interest.
Kotkaniemi was originally selected third overall in the 2018 NHL draft and was expected to become a star but at 23 years old, it does not look like that will be happening anytime soon or even at all.
He has six years left on his contract and if the Canucks were to acquire him and he were to under perform, he may wind up getting bought out early on.
