Pierre LeBrun provides the latest on Red Wings star Patrick Kane
NHL insider Pierre LeBrun spoke with Patrick Kane's agent Pat Brisson and has shared whether or not he will extend his contract with the Detroit Red Wings.
This past year Patrick Kane saw a career resurgence with the Detroit Red Wings. After a relative down year with Chicago and New York, scoring only 57 points in 73 games, the winger underwent hip surgery and returned to the NHL about halfway through the NHL season. When he returned, he was spectacular scoring 47 points in 50 games being the Red Wings' most productive player outside of captain Dylan Larkin.
He is currently entering unrestricted free agency for the second year in a row and we now have the latest on what Kane is looking for. Insider Pierre LeBrun writes the following:
"One thing's for sure: Brisson will want to find [Patrick Kane] some term this time around.
This one's hard to gauge, but I feel like it's more likely Kane goes to market July 1." - Pierre LeBrun
If Kane does hit free agency, he will certainly be coveted by any contending team and could emerge as one of the best players for whoever decides to add him. At 35 years old, this could be Kane's final contract so he and his agent will certainly try to make the most of it.
