Expect several more layoffs at Sportsnet following Jeff Marek's firing

It seems that Jeff Marek's firing at Sportsnet was the first of many more to come this summer, as the network looks to clean house.

Sportsnet let Jeff Marek go following the NHL entry draft, but it was only made public last week. Fans began to worry after they hadn't heard from Marek in about a month and he never appeared on his 32 Thoughts the Podcast show with Elliotte Friedman.

There are some experts that believe the Jeff Marek firing may not necessarily be connected to other future layoffs, however others out there are not so sure. Either way, people who work for Rogers and Sportsnet better be on guard.

32 Thoughts The Podcast was a very popular show among hockey and sports fans, and most of them are extremely saddened and disappointed that Marek is gone, and the show just won't be the same without him.

It's difficult to say what the rest of the summer is going to look like at Sportsnet and other networks such as TSN, but one thing's for sure, a job with these companies is never certain long-term, not even if you are one of the most known, prominent sports anchors out there. We wish Jeff Marek the best in his search for a new role, and fans will be eagerly waiting.
