The Anaheim Ducks are quickly building one of the NHL's most talented young cores, but that hasn't stopped the question marks around polarizing star Trevor Zegras. The young forward has stunned many times throughout his NHL career thus far, but after reportedly not fitting in as a Pat Verbeek style player, there's been the expectation of a trade for quite some time.
Now, in a recent article with The Hockey News, an Insider has revealed an intriguing update on Zegras' future, as he has revealed that unless he establishes himself this season as a difference making forward, the team will likely look to pursue a trade.
Over the summer, Zegras has already been connected to the likes of the Montreal Canadiens, Calgary Flames and most importantly, the New York Rangers, and ahead of the 2024/25 season, it appears the speculation simply won't go away. This past year was Zegras' worst in the NHL, as he dealt with several injuries, tallying just 6 goals and 15 points in 31 games played, but he continued to flash the star qualities that make him a beloved player around the NHL.
At this point, all signs continue to point to a potential trade for the 23-year old star, but if he comes out in career best form this year, there's always a chance that the Ducks will continue to build around him and the rest of their core moving forward.
