Jaromir Jagr is still going strong at 52-years of age, but now the veteran has confirmed this season will be his final one on the ice.
Despite retiring from the NHL after the 2017/18 season, a 22-game finale with the Calgary Flames, Jaromir Jagr is still going strong overseas as he enters his eighth season with the Kladno Knights in the Czech Hockey League. At 52-years of age, the end is near however, and now, Jagr's agent has confirmed that this season will officially be his last as an active player.
Jaromir loves hockey very much. He is in very good health and has no problems with his discipline. This is why he continues to play hockey. Now he is the oldest athlete who continues to play hockey.
Jagr's Kladno Knights kicked off their 2024/25 campaign overnight, and unsurprisingly, the former No. 5 overall pick in the NHL Draft tallied a point on the night, showing that he can still get it done at his age. Over the last two years, Jagr has played in 41 games with the Knights, scoring five goals and 18 points over that time, so while he's not the player he once was, he can still get it done at a high level.
It's unclear what direction Jagr will take after he officially hangs up the skates, but this is a person who has been in hockey his entire life, and it's safe to say that he could likely get any role he wants at the end of this season.
