Jacob Trouba could be suspended after terrifying hit on Martin Necas
Last night, New York Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba handed out one of the most dangerous hits we have seen in the playoffs. The hit on Martin Necas placed both players in serious danger. As a result, Jacob Trouba could be facing a suspension.
Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba has always been known for playing on the edge of what is allowed in the rule book. This continued last night when he came flying in and narrowly missed a devastating hit on Hurricanes forward Martin Necas. Despite missing the hit Jacob Trouba still went flying head-first into the boards putting himself and Martin Necas in serious trouble.
I don't know if I've ever seen a play where someone almost k**** someone else twice and themselves once, but I'm not surprised it involved Trouba
On top of landing on Martin Necas and hitting his own head on the boards, Jacob Trouba almost cut Martin Necas with his skate. This could have ended in major tragedy due to the reckless actions of Jacob Trouba.
I'm sorry but Jacob Trouba deserves a suspension . This is a clear intent to injure a player. Had that elbow connected we'd be talking about a potential 5+ game suspension. Though it didn't land the intent was clearly there. The NHL preaches player safety. So let's see what happens #CauseChaos #NYR
There was no penalty on the play but the NHL could still decide to hand out punishment from their Department of Player Safety. At the moment, the NHL has not commented on the hit but hopefully will be asked about the incident and made to address what happened.
Once there is a final ruling on the fate of Jacob Trouba we will pass that information along to you.
