Joel Edmundson momentarily left the Los Angeles Kings game against the Tampa Bay Lightning last night after a wild incident went down in the third period.
The defenseman jumped at the blue line to catch a puck that was going outside his offensive zone but was dangerously hit by Tampa Bay Lightning's player Zemgus Girgensons as he was getting back on his feet.
Edmundson landed on his neck and collapsed on the ice.
After staying on the ice for a few seconds, he went back to the locker room to get tested for concussions.
Later in the period, he returned to the bench, another great example of the courage, dedication, and determination of hockey players.
Check out how it all went down in the following video:
The Kings have been having a great season so far. They currently stand at the 2nd rank in the Central Division, only six points behind the Las Vegas Golden Knights, the best team in the league.
They are tied with the Edmonton Oilers at 51 points, and once again this season, seem poised to face Connor McDavid's team again in the playoffs.
However, the team hopes that the results will be different. Edmonton eliminated Los Angeles three straight times, every year since 2022.
Starting on Wednesday, the Kings will enter one of the most important stretches of the season, with five of six of their next opponents being division rivals: the Calgary Flames twice, the Vancouver Canucks, the Seattle Kraken, and the Edmonton Oilers.
Of course, the game against the Oilers will be one to watch, especially considering the two teams could meet again in the playoffs.
