Expansion talks have heated up in the NHL over the past few months, with Atlanta and Salt Lake City likely to make up teams No. 33 and 34 in the NHL, but that may not be the end.
Stan Kroenke to bring another NHL team to California?
According to a new report, just hours after it was revealed that Anson Carter is heading up a group to bring the NHL to Atlanta, a powerful sports owner is eyeing off another NHL team in California.
Stan Kroenke is the owner of the Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Rams and Denver Nuggets, and now, according to one of his top advisors, he's intent on bringing the NHL to San Diego.
According to one of Stan Kroenke's top executives, when his group builds the new arena in the Midway, Kroenke is bringing the NHL to San Diego.

With the Ducks, Kings and Sharks all occupying California, it's tough to see another team in the state before Salt Lake City, Atlanta and other teams eyeing new NHL bids such as Quebec City and Houston.
Kroenke is one of the most powerful men in American Sports however, so we don't doubt that he'll make a bid, and if it makes sense for the NHL, it wouldn't be a shock to see this become a reality, whether via expansion or relocation.
