Atlanta is no stranger to the NHL. While the city does not currently have a team, they have had a couple of chances in the past with the Thrashers and Flames. Now one former NHL player is looking to bring the league back to the city.

Anson Carter Reveals Plans To Bring Expansion Team To Atlanta

Former NHL player Anson Carter has kept himself involved in the NHL through his role as an analyst for TNT. Now he appears to be looking to get much more involved as today he revealed his plans to bring the NHL to Atlanta for a third time.

We have a new entrant revealing its desire for NHL expansion. Broadcaster Anson Carter, who scored 202 goals in 674 NHL games, unveils Alpharetta Sports & Entertainment Group � wishing to bring a team back to Atlanta. Details here:

The news quickly spread around hockey circles as all the major news outlets covered the story. This has come as a surprise to many since Salt lake City and Houston have been dominating the headlines when it comes to future NHL expansion.

Alpharetta Sports and Entertainment Group, led by Anson Carter, has formally requested the NHL to initiate the expansion process to bring a team back to Atlanta. 👀

As part of the unveiling of his plan, Carter revealed that he has been working with Alpharetta's mayor Jim Gilvin for some time now. Gilvin is fully on board with the plan, citing infrastructure improvements and location as advantages for the plan.
