After a heavy hit on Trevor Van Reimsdyk in last game against the Capitals, the league has been forced to make a decision on Matt Rempe.

Rempe, the rookie forward for the New York Rangers is no stranger to controversy or to the NHL's Department of Player Safety.

He was assessed a 4 game suspension for a hit earlier in the season.

In last night's game against the Capitals Rempe threw a huge hit that some felt may require additional discipline from the league.

When asked about the hit, Rempe felt that it was clean and shouldn't be punished any further.

"Everything was clean... I've just got to be cool and just keep composure and stay disciplined."

Rangers Matt Rempe stands by his hit on Trevor van Riemsdyk and also explains why he turned down a fight with Capitals alternate captain Tom Wilson

Matt Rempe on hit that injured Capitals defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk: "I thought it was a clean hit. I just went through the body."

The league made their decision that they would not be assessing any additional discipline to the Rangers rookie for his actions on Friday night.

Although the hit looked a bit high, the DPoS was likely considering the height differential when making their decision, and reasonably so.
