During the first period of the match between JYP and KooKoo, there was one uncomfortable situation with the JYP defender Juuso Vainio after he suffered a very serious fall on the ice. The players were in a physical struggle with each other before the incident, and upon the serious situation, the game had to be paused until the medical team checked on Vainio's condition. The audience was quite puzzled by the whole situation as there was an eerie calmness in the arena while the medical team tried to keep Vainio safe.
The medical staff of JYP took to the ice for almost 20 minutes, cautiously examining and monitoring Vainio, taking every precaution before finally calling the ambulance. Still, Vainio was conscious and managed to move all his limbs, reassuring a lot of fans and teammates. After being stabilized, he was taken to the Central Finland Central Hospital for further evaluation.
While the injury in itself involved a long break in the game, fortunately, the arena staff was efficient in clearing the ice so that the match continued just shortly after the ambulance left. The mood, however, was still tense while the audience awaited the outcome of Vainio's condition.
Later in the day, it was found that the injury wasn't as serious as first thought. The various medical tests didn't show anything too serious, and Vainio was in stable condition, a huge relief to the JYP organization and its fans. He'll remain in the hospital overnight for observation purposes.
While the team and the fans look forward to his recovery, we wish him the very best. Hope you're back on the ice soon, Jusso!
