It's no secret that fans weren't thrilled when Fanatics took over as the apparel partner of the NHL, and now, fans are even more outraged at their pricing.
After their partnership with Adidas officially came to an end, the NHL opted to partner with Fanatics, a massive apparel company that have drawn plenty of criticism for the monopoly they now have on fan apparel on sports in North America. Already, there has been plenty of criticism sent their way by fans, and it has now gotten much, much worse, with the following revealed as the price points for jersey's in the upcoming 2024/25 season.
Practice: $120 USD / $140 CAD
Breakaway: $135 USD / $160CAD for blank and $175 USD / $200 CAD for name & number)
Premium: $180 USD / $200 CAD for blank and $230 USD / $250 CAD for name and number
Authentic Pro: $425USD / $500 CAD
While this doesn't seem too far off the prices given by Adidas in the previous partnership, the lack of quality control has been a talking point for Fanatics over the past few years, and it's safe to say that fans weren't too happy about the situation.
Hopefully given their new standing with the NHL, Fanatics will begin to up their quality and improve across the board, but given how cheap their product often feels, it's safe to say that's likely not the case. Eventually, reviews will start flowing in for these products, but as of right now, the NHL have alienated plenty of their fans with these moves, so now we will wait and see if Fanatics can turn things around or make it much worse for the league.
