Tragic news announced for Jaromir Jagr ahead of the 2024-25 hockey season
Jaromir Jagr's longevity of performing at a top level in the sport of hockey is only paralleled by Gordie Howe and the Czech icon has suffered a major setback going into the next season.
Since breaking into professional hockey in 1988, Jaromir Jagr has established himself as one of the greatest to ever play the sport. 36 years going on 37 years later, Jagr is still playing professional hockey in Czechia. However, his 37th year of professional hockey will be delayed as he has reportedly suffered an injury.
Below is a transcription from the Czech outlet Hokej.cz:
"Of course, I didn't listen to him... I went for a run. Not the sprints I used to do uphill, but normally straight. But I put weights on my ankles and tore my hamstring.
That was about five days ago. Pavel said it would be three to six weeks. We'll see how it heals.
The worst part is that I'm mad at myself. I was preparing, I dropped a lot (of weight) and felt pretty good on the ice. Now it has stopped again, so I'll have to start from the beginning." - Jaromir Jagr
Jagr will now have to further delay his 37th professional season but he will still be running things with Kladno, the team he plays for and owns.
