Major fight breaks out between the Flames and Oilers at rookie camp showdown
Parker Bell and Connor Clattenburg dropped the gloves in a huge center ice fight during the rookie game between the Flames and Oilers.
The Battle of Alberta was alive and well last night, as young prospects in the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames organizations got to shine in a rookie tournament. While it wasn't quite the high-stakes affair fans are accustomed to, the intensity on the ice was unmistakable.
Early in the first, sparks flew as towering prospects Parker Bell and Connor Clattenburg dropped the gloves at center ice for a spirited fight. These games are all about catching the eye of their organizations, and Bell and Clattenburg made sure everyone was watching them.
They didn't waste any time dancing around each other, as the two began to exchange punches until Clattenburg was able to land a solid right hand that sent Bell to the ice. Both players are almost identical in size, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing just over 190 pounds, but this time it was Clattenburg who came out on top.
