Seven Teams Emerge As Potential Destinations For Calgary Flames Defenseman Chris Tanev
Calgary Flames defenseman Chris Tanev is drawing a lot of interest on the trade market and could find himself heading to one of seven potential destinations.
Seven Potential Suitors Emerge For Chris Tanev
On the 32 Thoughts podcast, insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that there are many teams in on Calgary Flames defenseman Chris Tanev.
On Chris Tanev: Elliotte mentions Tor, Dal, TB, Van, Ott, Edm & Col as teams "swirling around him". Says he wouldn't be surprised if this ends sooner rather than later.
Not all of these teams are within the playoff picture but Tanev would certainly help improve any team's odds of making a deep playoff run.
It has been known that Toronto and Vancouver are among the top bidders for Tanev and it seems that within the next few weeks, we will get a definite answer where Tanev will be going.
What Tanev Brings To A Team
While Tanev does not appear on the stat sheet too often, having only 10 points so far this season, he does a fantastic job of keeping the other team off the stat sheet. At 34 years old, Tanev is among the top shot blockers in the NHL and lays his body on the line night in and night out.
He is averaging just under 20 minutes a night so far this season and could probably be playing more if the Flames did not have other defensemen above him on the depth chart.
While Tanev might not be the flashiest player available, he is the type of player any team will want for a deep playoff run and it can be seen with how many teams are trying to acquire his services.
