The Columbus Blue Jackets just announced that Dmitri Voronkov would be out for a 'long time', and now captain Boone Jenner will join him on the sidelines.

This Columbus Blue Jackets team has plenty of young talent that make them a talented team of the future, but for now, they lack the depth of elite-level players that could make them a threat in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Now, they'll be without yet another player, as it has been announced that captain Boone Jenner will be out for a long time to start the 2024/25 season.

The cause of the absence is reportedly an 'upper body injury', and while no specifics were gone into it, it's another major loss for this team. Last season, Jenner was solid once more, tallying 22 goals and 35 points despite missing 24 games, and with his leadership qualities, the team needs him on the ice to lead their young group in 2024/25.

Unfortunately, this is yet another winger the team will now miss in 2024/25, leaving a hole on the top line beside Sean Monahan and Kirill Marchenko, with a potential veteran like James van Riemsdyk sliding into that role. This report originally came from Aaron Portzline of The Athletic, and while he was first on the report, there were very few details that came with the injury and when we could potentially see Jenner back on the ice, but the longer he is out, the worst it's going to be for this team that was already going to struggle this season.
