Three interesting teams emerge as fits for Patrik Laine
Patrik Laine is seemingly on his way out of Columbus, and now three teams have been mentioned as possible fits for the goal scoring forward.
After a rocky few years in Columbus, now that he has been released from the NHLPA's Player Assistance Program, all signs now point to an immediate trade involving Patrik Laine. The clearest link in recent weeks has been to the Montreal Canadiens, but now on the latest episode of the Spittin Chiclets Podcast, Ryan Whitney has offered up three teams he believe could be a fit for the 26-year old star.
Ryan Whitney says the Detroit Red Wings, Calgary Flames, and Colorado Avalanche could be good fits for Patrik Laine on the Spittin Chiclets podcast #CBJ
On the surface, the Flames appear to be the odd team out in this scenario, as they have plenty of young wingers they are looking to develop in the NHL, and with Columbus looking for future assets, something Calgary are seeking as well, it doesn't make too much sense.
However, both Detroit and Colorado would make perfect sense, as Laine would give them another goal scoring weapon as they look to navigate their way to Stanley Cup contention in 2024/25. It's not yet clear how many teams have officially made contact with the Blue Jackets, but if Columbus are willing to eat some salary on a deal, it would be an absolute no brainer for many teams around the league to be chasing him.
