Patrick Kane opens up on his highly anticipated return to the Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings took a step forward to breaking their playoff drought last year, and now they'll look to take that step with the returning Patrick Kane.
The summer of 2023 saw the free agency saga of Patrick Kane before the veteran forward ultimately signed in Detroit, and this season, he made his decision much quicker. Returning to the Red Wings, Kane has now opened up on the decision, revealing that it was the iconic calls of Ken Daniels as one of the main reasons he wanted to return.
"Looking back at some of the moments (last season) and some of the calls that Ken Daniels had, I can watch those clips for the rest of my life," said Kane. "The calls he had on some of the goals I scored, those are moments that give you chills. You want to create more of those."
That wasn't the only reason however, as Showtime made sure to note his appreciation for the fans in Detroit, who he believe embraced him and will do so as he returns in 2024/25.
"For me, my heart was set on Detroit and coming back to Detroit I thought the fans really embraced me too," said Kane.
With the addition of Vladimir Tarasenko and a full year of Kane, the Red Wings come into the 2024/25 campaign with a fantastic shot at the Stanley Cup Playoffs following an eight-year drought.
