The insider Eric Engels officially confirmed Arber Xhekaj's suspension fate after getting ejected last night in a preseason game against the Ottawa Senators.

It's been an action-packed preseason so far for the Montreal Canadiens. After a pair of games against the Toronto Maple Leafs left them without their newest star Patrik Laine and one of their top prospects David Reinbacher, they met last night against the Ottawa Senators.

In recent years, the rivalry with the Senators reached a new level. Last night's game showed exactly that.

During the first period, Sens' Ridly Greig landed a dangerous hit on the head of Kirby Dach, the Habs' player who missed the whole past season because of an injury.

Dach had to leave the game, but eventually returned and dropped the gloves against Greig.

However, before the fight occurred, Greig refused to drop the gloves and Habs' enforcer Arber Xhekaj took things into his own hands.

He gave a solid hit on Tim Stutzle and received a game misconduct, his second in two games.

Captain Brady Tkachuk ended up dropping the gloves against him. Both Tkachuk and Stutzle retreated to the locker room after that incident.

After the game, many fans wondered what kind of discipline Xhekaj would face from the NHL's Department of Player Safety.

Sportsnet's Eric Engels finally provided an update, saying the young Habs defenseman shouldn't have further consequences for his hit on Stutzle.

More to come.
