The renowned analyst Jeff Marek provided his opinion on the Columbus Blue Jackets players targeting Patrik Laine in last night's game against the Montreal Canadiens.

In the past day, the situation between the Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine and his former team, the Columbus Blue Jackets, has been a hot topic among hockey fans.

Before last night's game, Patrik Laine made controversial comments, saying the reason behind his trade request was that he didn't want to be a part of a losing culture anymore.

In the game, Blue Jackets players weren't subtle at all in their intentions to take Laine out of the game.

They repeatedly hit him, until he had to leave the game after the first period.

In his post-game press conference, Zach Werenski, Laine's former teammate and Columbus Blue Jackets leader, shared his thoughts on Laine's comments, letting everyone know that the team didn't appreciate what he said:

"We were nothing to good teammates to him, nothing but good friends to him. For him to bash us like that, I think it's just unacceptable. I hope he's alright with whatever he's dealing with tonight tonight, but he didn't finish the game."

"Couple hits and I don't know what happened but it's unfortunate. We were nothing but good teammates to him so for him to come in here and say all that, it's bulls**t, Definitely not happy about it and none of us in the room are happy about it and I think that speaks more about him than it does us."

Many experts revealed their opinions on the issue, including Jeff Marek.

Marek stated that if this is how Laine feels, Columbus doesn't have to agree, but by saying that, Laine gave his former team a reason to compete harder:

"I think they were, I think they were condescending, okay, for sure condescending, biting, maybe. There's some honesty in there too, ... if that's how Laine feels, that's how Laine feels.

Columbus doesn't have to agree with it, yeah, that's the way he felt, okay, that's the way he felt, and he moves on."You've given that team an issue now, the issue is everybody against Laine."

Laine needs to assume what he said, and can't blame the Blue Jackets for going after him on the ice.
