Elias Pettersson was the first star last night versus the San Jose Sharks but did not come out to do his lap indicating that he has suffered a potentially serious injury.

Recently, the Canucks have been in the news because Elias Pettersson and JT Miller cannot get along. However, things have now taken an unforeseen turn for the worse as Pettersson is now in the news for an injury.

Before the injury, Pettersson set a career-best two goals in 44 seconds putting the Canucks up 4-1.

However, he suffered an injury early on in the third period and did not return for the rest of the game.

Thankfully for the Canucks, head coach Rick Tocchet shared an encouraging update on Pettersson.

The Canucks will need Pettersson to continue to perform like he did last night as he has the capability to take over games at will but needs to be in the right environment to do so.

With relations with JT Miller being at an all-time low, the Canucks locker room has been at the forefront of the media for the past week now. When the pair were asked about their relationship, the two were quick to shut down reports from some of the most notable insiders in the NHL.

The most difficult thing about navigating this situation for the Canucks front office is that they would like to keep their two 100-point players for the foreseeable future. Just last season Miller potted 103 points while Pettersson scored 102 points in 2021-22.

With two supremely talented players, the Canucks would have a difficult time figuring out who to trade as Pettersson is younger but also substantially more expensive while Miller is older and could decline before the end of his contract.

At the end of the day, the Canucks are hoping for both Pettersson and Miller to remain healthy and bury the hatchet so they can go back to focusing on winning a Stanley Cup together.
