New York Rangers veteran Chris Kreider has recently revealed that he deals with daily struggles regarding anxiety issues, which really took fans by surprise.

Hockey players are supposed to be tough. They're supposed to play through anything and everything. But there's sometimes stuff you can't necessarily see, stuff that's not physical. I've personally dealt with anxiety, and it's a common thing. When you're in it, you feel like you're on an island, going up and down. I don't think it was until the last few years where I realized how many people are experiencing it or have experienced it.

Kreider is a 12-year veteran who has been known to be involved in his fair share of controversies during NHL games, so the fact that he is the one revealing he struggles with mental health issues has proven to everyone that this type of suffering can affect anyone, regardless of how tough they may seem, or how much money or fame they may have.

#NYR players Chris Kreider, Jonathan Quick & Matt Rempe will be taking part in Shoulder Check Showcase charity event Thursday in Stamford, CT.

Here's the "powerful, touching" story behind it all, with stick taps to Dave Maloney & Rob Thorsen 👇

Kreider will hopefully be the voice of change in the hockey community to get others struggling with it to come out and speak their truth. These players have the support of fans and their friends and families to help them through this difficult time. We are all rooting for them.
