New York Rangers place veteran forward Barclay Goodrow on waivers
The New York Rangers have officially placed veteran forward Barclay Goodrow on waivers with the possibility of him being bought out in the future.
Just ahead of game five of the Stanley Cup Finals, the New York Rangers placed Barclay Goodrow on waivers shocking many.
Placed on NHL waivers today: Barclay Goodrow (NYR).
Barclay Goodrow is on waivers today
Goodrow is a locker room leader for the Rangers and wears a letter on his jersey. Goodrow has three years left on his current deal where he makes just over $3.6 million per year. He disappointed the Rangers in the regular season scoring only twelve points over 80 games and was not able to provide what the Rangers signed him for.
Barclay Goodrow has three more seasons on his contract carrying a $3.6M cap hit. With the #NYR needing to clear cap space, the highly-respected forward is a free asset to any other organization.
A bit more:
Clearly, NYR doing this solely for cap reasons, seeing if there is another team interested.
Goodrow 6 goals in 16 playoff games, that's his time of year
More details to come.
