The Pittsburgh Penguins have been very bad in recent times, and now Sidney Crosby is getting honest after his team blew an early lead in Vancouver.
Despite a solid start to the regular season, the Pittsburgh Penguins are now losers of their last five games, four of which have come on the road after they fell to the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. The lowlight of that game for the Penguins was the team blowing an early 2-0 lead in the second period, as they allowed four goals in just six minutes for the Canucks to run away with the 4-3 victory.
It marks the end of a dreadful four-game Canadian road trip for Pittsburgh, and after the game, captain Sidney Crosby revealed his thoughts on the collapse against the Canucks.
«We had a good third, so try to build off of that - that urgency, that desperation. For most of the game, we did a lot of good things. We've got to find a way not to allow momentum or chances to add up and pile up and make that the difference in the game because we're working too hard to generate other chances to do good things to give it away like that.»
Unfortunately, the team has been looking to build on their few positives all season long, but continue to come up short as they look to find their consistency early in the season, with Crosby showing frustration at the compounding mistakes during the game.
«We just can't chase a mistake with another one. There's got to be a certain awareness when we do give up one. We've got to follow it up with a good shift or at least get the momentum back and try to counter that."
Ultimately, this is a team with enough talent to make a push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but they just can't seem to put it all together at the same time, and until that happens, this will be a team that continues to disappoint.
