Surprising report suggests the San Jose Sharks may be relocating
It appears that the San Jose Sharks could potentially be playing their final season in the city, as a new report has just suggested they may be relocating.
Despite relocation talks that are recently surfacing, the Sharks will likely remain in the Bay Area, however the city they play in may no longer be San Jose. It appears that the agreement that the Sharks have with the city of San Jose regarding the SAP Center arena they play out of, will be changing "unfavorably", according to Sharks' president Jonathan Becher.
"If...[SAP Center] doesn't work out, we would look at other places in San Jose first, and then, the rest of the Bay Area."
Prez @jbecher thinks #SJSharks should work out new arena management agreement w/ city, but if not, they're committed to Bay Area
The main cities where the Sharks could be playing out of beginning at the 2025-26 season are likely San Francisco or Oakland. We have already seen other leagues change cities within the Bay Area, as most recently the Golden State Warriors moved from Oakland to San Francisco.
It's been a tough few years for the Sharks and their fans, as they continue to finish at the bottom of the standings. Now that the team seems to slowly be turning the corner and signing some key players, this unfortunate relocation news breaks out. Strap up Sharks fans, the ride is far from over.
