Tampa Bay Lightning sold for $2 billion dollars
This afternoon reports are confirming that the Tampa Bay Lightning are on the verge of being sold for an astronomical record-breaking price for an NHL franchise.
Today reports from X have revealed that the Tampa Bay Lightning are on the verge of being sold by current owner Jeff Vinik. A report from Elliotte Friedman has confirmed that the expected sale price will be around 2 billion dollars.
According to these reports businessman
Doug Ostrover who owns Blue Owl Capital will be purchasing the team. This sale if completed will break the record for the most highly valued NHL sale exceeding the Ottawa Senators from last year.
With the Tampa Bay Lightning being one of the best NHL teams in the modern era it makes sense that their value skyrocketed. It also shows the incredible growth of hockey in Florida after only being a team for around 30 years to this point.
As of now, this deal has not quite crossed the finish line. The discussions will continue but all reports seem to indicate that it is just a matter of time before the Tampa Bay Lightning are to be owned by Doug Ostrover.
