The Toronto Maple Leafs face more scrutiny than anyone in the entire NHL, and one player that hasn't been able to avoid a mountain of criticism is forward Mitch Marner, who has dealt with trade proposals and hate from many Maple Leafs fans this summer after a poor showing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. One person in the media who has played along with that criticism is Paul Bissonnette, former NHLer turned podcast host with the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, but now, he has officially apologized to Marner.
On top of that, he has given a massive prediction about Marner, not only predicting that he could one day win the Selke Trophy, but adding on this bold claim at the end;
While Marner certainly has the talent to put up plenty of points, he has thus far not passed 100 in a single season in his career, and after Nikita Kucherov, Nathan MacKinnon, and Connor McDavid all put up over 130 a season ago, it's hard to see him getting that done. However, if there's any circumstance under which No. 16 could get it done, it's this season as he faces a contract year that could see him hit the open market or force his way back into Toronto, and if he were to win the Art Ross Trophy, it would go a long way to proving his value as a superstar in the NHL.
