Ryan O'Reilly desperate to play with Mitch Marner
Ryan O'Reilly wanted to be re-united with his former teammate Mitch Marner, and attempted to get GM Barry Trotz to make a trade for him prior to July 1st.
Barry Trotz was a busy GM during the July 1st free agent frenzy, signing Jonathan Marchessault and Steven Stamkos, among several others. Prior to the signing madness, Ryan O'Reilly desperately tried to convince GM Barry Trotz to trade for his former teammate Mitch Marner.
Ryan O'Reilly urges Trotz for a blockbuster trade: Mitch Marner on the radar #NHL #LeafsForever
During their time together as teammates, O'Reilly was extremely fond of playing with Mitch, and had nothing but great things to say about him. O'Reilly was mind blown when asked to describe Marner's skill level, and referred to him as incredible.
It seems as though at this point, the Leafs are set to start the year with Marner on their roster, so a trade seems highly doubtful at this point. Unfortunately for O"Reilly, he will need to find some incredible teammates elsewhere.
