Thomas Drance and Rick Dhaliwal report that Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko is set to miss the entire training camp and preseason.
Thatcher Demko, who was injured in the first game of the Stanley Cup playoffs against the Nashville Predators last season, has yet to fully recover. There are growing concerns that his injury might extend his time away from the ice, and now it appears that is exactly what is happening.
While there is hope he could return for the regular season opener, that possibility remains uncertain according to recent updates, as it is highly unlikely he will see any preseason action.
The specifics of the 2023 Vezina Trophy nominee's injury are still unclear. Rumors have circulated about a possible ACL tear, but nothing has been officially confirmed. Thatcher Demko did manage to get some practice in on the ice before the team was eliminated, but it led to no progress.
The situation remains at a standstill and only time will tell what Thatcher Demko's status is for the upcoming season.
Thatcher Demko was drafted in the second round by the Vancouver Canucks in 2014 and has suited up in 219 games. He holds a record of 116-81-17, and a GAA of 2.79 with a .912 save %.
