Brock Boeser, Thatcher Demko top Canucks scratches for series finale
The Vancouver Canucks will host the Edmonton Oilers for the final game of the second round tonight but they will be without several star players including Thatcher Demko.
While the rosters for tonight's game have yet to be officially announced, we have a pretty good idea of who will be in the lineup tonight based on what happened at morning skate. Goaltender Thatcher Demko was on the ice working with a number of skaters who are all expected to be the healthy scratches tonight. Of course, Demko is still recovering from an injury sustained in the first round against Nashville.
Gate closed at a highly optional Game 7 morning skate.
Thatcher Demko was working with Podkolzin, Juulsen, Karlsson, Friedman and Wolanin - so those are your projected Game 7 #Canucks scratches.
The bigger story is with Brock Boeser. The team's top goal-scorer will not be on the ice in any capacity tonight as the team doctors discovered a blood clot in his leg after game six. NHL insider Frank Serravalli gave us an update on his status today and it does not sound good. The most likely outcome seems to be that Boeser will be out for the remainder of the playoffs.
Sounds like #Canucks Brock Boeser's blood clot developed in his leg, something team medical staff found after Game 6.
He has been placed on blood thinning medication and is not expected to be available to play again this season.
Brutal break for #Canucks' leading goal scorer.
Boeser currently leads the Canucks in both goals, with 7 and points, with 12. JT Miller also has 12 points, tying him for the team lead. The team could not have lost Boeser at a much worse time as tonight will be the first time this year the Canucks season is truly on the line. That being said, fans of the team are still excited and ready for what could be a dramatic and exhilarating game seven.
Me and my boy are ready for game 7 #Canucks @Canucks
GO CANUCKS GO💙💚
be sure to tune in tonight to see which team will be the last Canadian franchise in the 2024 playoffs.
