The Vancouver Canucks just got winger Daniel Sprong for a steal of a contract, and now we may know why teams are scared of committing to him.

By this time of the off-season, most of the valuable free agents have been locked up to big time deals, and that fact left many scratching their head as it was just over the weekend that 27-year old forward Daniel Sprong finally inked a deal, landing with the Vancouver Canucks.

General Manager Patrik Allvin announces that the #Canucks have agreed to terms with forward Daniel Sprong on a one-year contract.

The deal was one-year and worth $975k, and after tallying 39 goals over the past two years, that seems to be awfully cheap. Now, it has been revealed by an Insider that character concerns may be the reason behind this, as teams could be wary of committing long-term money to Sprong.

Rumour has it he's not the best guy in the room. Whether that concept regarding chemistry is true remains to be seen for a Canucks dressing room that will do its best to acclimate the 27-year-old native of the Netherlands.

Those concerns clearly haven't hurt him on the ice, but in the locker room chemistry is incredibly vital as seen in the past Stanley Cup Finals, so until he can get that under control, don't expect to see him land a big money deal.
