NHL reporter Mark Spector has spoken out regarding the JT Miller-Elias Pettersson feud, and he called out a former NHL player for playing the blame game.

NHL analyst Mark Spector has weighed in on former NHL player Scottie Upshall's comments about Vancouver media and tensions between Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller.

The former NHLer said on X the media were "bored" and overhyping the situation, telling them to find a new hobby.

"Vancouver media are just bored out of their minds take up a hobby and go to a yoga class or something," Upshall wrote.

Mark Spector pushed back, suggesting that such a story would be headlines in any hockey market, and more so in Vancouver, where it affects the Canucks on the ice. He defended media scrutiny as relevant to the team's on-ice results.

"Has nothing to do with the market, Scottie. It would be a story in every city, and it's a big one in Vancouver right now. It's affecting team performance. Of course, media is digging into it.," Spector posted on X.

The tension between Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller has been in question for quite some time. While the Canucks felt they had solved these problems after last season's success, the signs of disharmony are back.

Coach Rick Tocchet admitted that arguing between teammates is normal but underscored professionalism and putting the team first.

«You don't have to play PlayStation together or go to dinner,» Tocchet said (via yardbarker.com). «But you're working toward the same goal.

Still, it hasn't stopped Canucks management from remaining optimistic. Captain Quinn Hughes said that the players will work through the problems. Tocchet again harped on the theme of harmony within the organization.

Both Pettersson and Miller are essential to any success the Canucks hope to achieve down the road. It makes the potential for a problem between the two the lead story. The long-term goal is to rectify this tension.
