Kris Knoblauch, the Edmonton Oilers head coach, shared his honest opinion about the struggling veteran Jeff Skinner after yesterday's game against the Ottawa Senators.

Last night, the Ottawa Senators were in Edmonton to face Connor McDavid and the Oilers, and Travis Green's team wasn't able to keep their six-game winning streak alive, losing 3-1 to the Oilers.

The Oilers played well and offered a great team effort to beat the Sens.

Everyone on the team, including the bottom six, performed well. Jeff Skinner, who's been quite struggling this season, had a great night. Even if he was held off the scoresheet, he was praised by his head coach Kris Knoblauch after the game.

Skinner, who was demoted to the fourth line, spent nearly 12 minutes on the ice yesterday. He had great scoring chances but was frustrated by the Sens goalie:

The coach revealed that if he wants to get more ice time, Skinner must keep bringing that same intensity:

"Just play good hockey. They spent a lot of time in the offensive zone and were around the net a lot. That's what I expect from him."

"I look at our team. Who's he elevating? We have a lot of guys who are playing well. He'll have his opportunity."

"The season is long. There's injuries, there's slumps."

In 32 games this season, the 32-year-old veteran scored only six goals and six assists. For a player who managed to have a 40-goal season in his career, it's not enough.

It'll be interesting to see if he's able to build momentum after this great performance. The Oilers have entered their Holiday break and won't play a game until December 28th, when they meet the Los Angeles Kings for a Pacific Division clash.
