Vegas Golden Knights center Jack Eichel was ejected today after he speared Wild forward Krill Kaprizov. The call proved to be highly controversial.

The play came in the neutral zone with just under six minutes left in the middle frame. Kaprizov and Eichel had previously been battling when the Wild superstar gave Eichel a solid cross check that went uncalled. Unfortunately for Eichel, he got the worst of both worlds as he was called for the retaliatory spear, even though it didn't look that bad on replay.

Clearly, the referees disagreed as they stuck with the call even after a review. However, Eichel appeared to be just as shocked as anyone when the call stood. He sat in the penalty box as the call was made, clearly biting his tongue as to not get himself in more trouble for questioning the call.

Many fans were quick to show their disagreement with the call, regardless of their NHL affiliations.

Not even close, are the hockey Refs betting too? Lol

That being said, arguing with the refs rarely does any good. It certainly didn't to the Golden Knights any favors in this instance.
