Carolina Hurricanes prospect and Hobey Baker finalist Jackson Blake injured himself trying to lay a pointless hit on an opponent at the end of a done game.

Last night North Dakota and Michigan faced off in the opening round of the NCAA hockey tournament. The two teams are among the best in the nation and were looking to move on to the next round.

During the final seconds of the game, with the puck in the neutral zone and Michigan up 4-3 on North Dakota, Carolina Hurricanes prospect Jackson Blake attempted to lay a dirty hit on a Michigan forward and wound up missing and injuring himself on the play.

Jackson Blake hurt himself trying to make a pointless reverse hit, hope he's ok. Michigan will play Michigan State again, this time in a regional final.

Blake, 20 years old, was originally a fourth-round draft pick of the Hurricanes in 2021 and has emerged as one of the best players in the NCAA this year. He is one of the top 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker for the best player in the NCAA and has a solid chance of finishing top three with 60 points in 40 games.

Blake has yet to sign an entry-level contract with the Hurricanes but may do so very soon as his year just ended.
