Dylan Strome reveals shocking injury TJ Oshie suffered during playoffs
The Washington Capitals were eliminated last night after they lost game four to the New York Rangers, completing the sweep. After the game, Dylan Strome revealed that TJ Oshie was playing through a very serious injury that limited his effectiveness.
Strome was answering questions with the media after the game four loss. He seemed to open up a bit, going on a stream of consciousness. Perhaps he did not even intend to share this information, but it was just something that he let slip. Regardless though, it is obvious what Oshie means to the Capitals given how Strome was talking about him.
"He's a warrior, no other way to describe it. He's one of the best teammates I've ever had over these two years. Just the things he needs to do to get his body ready for a hockey game, you guys would be stunned if you saw it. If it is his last game, he's a hell of a warrior, hell of a guy. Everything you can ask for in a teammate. Guy puts his heart and soul on the line each shift. Played today with a broken hand."
TJ Oshie playing through a broken hand tonight is a very Oshie thing to do. Very few players are as tough; play with the heart/ passion that he does.
Not lost on me that he took a little extra time leaving ice tonight. Dealt with another brutal season of injuries. Caps legend.
It is not known when Oshie was injured, but he did take this huge hit from Artemi Panarin that drew a lot of attention. Notably, he did leave the game after this hit. That being said, he did not mention this hit as the cause of the injury specifically.
Additionally, Oshie himself said that Panarin's hit on him was clean, so there are certainly no hard feelings between Oshie and the Russian Ranger.
«Me personally, I thought the Panarin hit was good. I love that.»
TJ Oshie saw nothing wrong with Breadman's monster hit on him.
