NHL referee stretchered off the ice after colliding with defenseman
A NHL referee had to be stretchered off the ice after colliding with the defenseman Haydn Fleury.
In Saturday afternoon game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Tampa Bay Lightning, the defenseman Haydn Fleury entered in a violent collision with the referee Steve Kozari.
Kozari lost consciousness and remained on the ice for several minutes before being stretchered off the ice. As for Fleury, he went straight to the locker room and never returned in the game.
Here's how it happened:
After the incident, teams from both players went on the ice to salute and support the referee, illustrating the respect between refs and players.
"Video of referee Steve Kozari grabbing linesman Kyle Flemington's hand while being stretchered off after an accidental, violent collision with Haydn Fleury. (Fleury went to the room.) Hope everyone will be okay."
