Florida Panthers forward Tomas Nosek was injured in tonight's pre-season game against the Nashville Predators.

The newly-acquired Nosek was driving towards the net with the puck on his stick when he lost his footing, resulting in a hard collision with the end boards. Predators defenseman Jeremy Lauzon was defending Nosek and appeared to get the blade of his stick into his skates, which resulted in Nosek losing control and crashing into the boards. He was clearly in a lot of pain as he laid on the ice.

Eventually, Nosek was able to leave the ice without being carted off, but he needed a lot of help from the trainer and his teammates. It certainly did not look good for the 32-year-old as he could potentially be dealing with a major injury. It appeared as though he hit the boards knees-first, which could have resulted in a number of injuries possibly including ACL damage.

At this point, the Panthers have not updated us on Nosek's status, but he has not returned to the game. The team just signed the veteran forward this summer, agreeing to a one-year deal worth league-minimum.

Florida Panthers President of Hockey Ops. & General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward Tomas Nosek on a one-year contract.

Nosek had 2 goals and 6 points in 36 games with the New Jersey Devils last season. He has 44 goals and 107 points in 434 career NHL games, split between four teams.
