Yesterday a game between the Rockford IceHogs and the Milwaukee Admirals took a turn for the worst as IceHogs forward Colton Dach was blatantly attacked on the ice.
After laying a late hit on 2021 27th overall pick Zachary L'Heureux, L'Heureux tripped up Dach and then sucker-punched him immediately after.
L'Heureux was ejected for his actions and will likely receive a lengthy suspension for this play as not only did he trip Dach dangerously with his skate, but he also got up and sucker-punched him.
L'Heureux has always been a top prospect who has struggled with playing within the rules. Through his entire QMJHL career, he never had a season where he had less PIMs than games played. This year, he has 82 PIMs in 27 AHL games proving to be a true pest.
L'Heureux has been suspended more than a few times throughout his young career for all sorts of dirty antics. He was suspended for 10 games for trying to attack a fan while walking off the ice.
Here are a couple of his other suspensions:
With the player having such a dirty history, the AHL will likely not hold back on his suspension and could suspend him long-term for his actions.
