31-year-old hockey player Troy Wylie tragically dies
Having played for the Napanee Raiders of the PJHL in the junior hockey league, 31-year-old Troy Wylie has sadly passed away.
It is with great sadness that the hockey world has lost another brother as the news came out of the passing of 31-year-old former junior hockey player Troy Wylie. News of his death came courtesy of the Napanee Raiders of the PJHL, a team Wylie had played for in his younger days, via a press release confirming he had passed away yesterday morning.
Our Organization is devastated this morning by the news of the tragic passing of Troy Wylie at the age of 31. Troy played for the Raiders from 2011-12 to 2014-15 and served as an alternate captain many of those years. The Kingston native could capably play forward - where he was seldom lost a battle along the boards - and defense, where he could be counted on for making simple, smart zone exits.
He was incredibly dedicated through goods times and bad. He was remembered by those who played with him and coached him as a great teammate, a hard worker, and a kind, respectful person away from the rink who loved his family and friends. We extend our condolences to Troy's fiance Chelsea, his parents Pete and Tammy, their family, and the many whose lives were better for having known him.
Troy Wylie will be remembered as a dedicated player and gentleman taken from this world much too soon; he had great character both on and off the ice. He has been able to impact many lives in his community and hockey world, and his absence will be felt for some time.
More recently, Troy Wylie had revived his love for the game and played for the Deseronto Bulldogs in the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League's senior AAA division last season.
Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and all those who are mourning during this sad time.
