7 year NHL veteran Ondrej Kase to return after retiring due to injury
Today the hockey world got exciting news regarding a former NHLer forced to retire due to injury reports indicate Ondrej Kase is going to make a comeback.
Ondrej Kase's hockey career came to a sudden and sad end after he dealt with severe neurological issues. The 28-year-old spent this entire season away from the game and it looked like his career had come to an end. Now a new report says that Ondrej Kase has improved to a point where he is going to attempt an NHL comeback.
New, for @TheAthletic: Two years after neurological issues derailed Ondřej Kae's career, the free-agent forward eyes an NHL return.
In his time in the NHL Ondrej Kase was considered a good middle-six forward on some good teams. He was most valuable to a team as a defensive forward. Before being sidelined with his neurological issues Ondrej Kase had his best offensive season in 2021-22 with 27 points in 50 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Ondrej Kase, signed 1x$1.25M by TOR, was shaping up to be an excellent two-way scorer when he got hit by awful injury problems. Low-risk move by the Leafs with a lot of upside if he can get/stay healthy. #LeafsForever
If teams can get past the injury risk associated with Ondrej Kase he could be a great signing for low cap hit. Watch for several competing teams to negotiate with Ondrej Kase heading into the 2024-25 NHL season.
