Alex Debrincat Changes Narrative Regarding Negotiations With Senators
Many hockey fans were shocked this offseason when the Senators traded star winger Alex DeBrincat to the Red Wings just a season after acquiring him. Now we know why the team made that decision.
DeBrincat Addresses Media
Rumors surrounded DeBrincat this offseason as he left the Senators after just one season with the team. Many thought that he had requested a trade or perhaps had an issue with someone else on the team. Today, he put the rumors to rest.
"Over the summer when a lot of that stuff was coming out. I saw a little bit of it. It is what it is I think. I know what happened behind closed doors and what the situation was. A lot of the stuff coming out wasn't exactly how it played out. It is what it is. They'll write what they want to write. That's fine with me."
DeBrincat also stated that he did not ask the Sens for a trade, but did let the team know well ahead of time that he was not interested in signing an extension with the team long-term.
DeBrincat's Hot Start
DeBrincat has found himself in a nice situation in Detroit where he has been a huge part of their offense to start the season. The 25-year-old winger is off to a piping hot start with his new team with 5 goals and 8 points through the first 4 games of the season.
