The Washington Capitals have been one of the most dominant teams in the regular season since the Ovechkin era started. Winning the Presidents Trophy on multiple occasions and a usual best bet to win their division.
Since the start of 2022, the outcomes have not been as kind to the Capitals. Since the start of January the Capitals have a 9-11-2 record, which has seen the powerplay drop to 31st in the league and the Capitals drop to 4th in the Metropolitan division.
Add in the added stress of the constant questions and harassment towards Ovechkin because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and it looks like this frustration is finally getting to Ovechkin.
