Reeling from a 2-7-1 start to their season, the once hopefully Edmonton Oilers are now looking for ways to salvage their season before its too late and they may be working a deal with a fellow Canadian club for a goaltender.

As it stands, the Montreal Canadiens are working with three goalies, Jake Allen, Samuel Montembeault and Cayden Primeau, on their active roster and looking to trade off one to even out their roster.

Primeau has gotten just one start thus far but the team is hesitant to assign him to the AHL's Laval Rocket as he would need to clear waivers first and the Canadiens are of the belief that he would not.

The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta reported that the Oilers were one of a pair of teams with interest in Allen in the offseason, giving Montreal a very needy suitor should they look to revisit that alley for a transaction.

"A few teams, including the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings, expressed interest in Allen in the off-season and the Canadiens could revisit those discussions later in the season." - Pagnotta reported.

Campbell's struggles continue

The Oilers have split time between goaltenders with Stuart Scott posting a 3.65 goals against average in six starts while Jack Campbell has a 4.50 goals against over five starts.

Edmonton was a team that entered the season with Stanley Cup aspirations, but with just five points after 10 games, they have the second worst record in the NHL.
