BREAKING : Auston Matthews Signs Extension With The Maple Leafs
Auston Matthews has signed a major extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs, keeping the superstar in Toronto.
Matthews signs massive extension with Leafs
Auston Matthews has signed a four-yeae extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs, according to the Forward on X, formerly known as Twitter. The deal will be for $53M (13.25M AAV), according to reports.
Matthews, 25, had 40 Goals, 45 Assists and 85 Points in 74 Games for Toronto in 2022-23. The Previous season, Matthews won the Hart, Ted Lindsay & Maurice 'Rocket' Richard trophies after a 60 Goal, 106 Point season. Matthews is also a six-time all star.
Since entering the NHL, Matthews has established himself as one of the league's best goal scoring threats. The move will have a major impact on the signing of fellow upcoming UFA William Nylander, who was reported earlier today by Elliotte Friedman to not be in imminent discussions regarding an extension.
Matthews was selected 1st Overall by Toronto in the 2016 NHL Draft, with 299 Goals, 243 Assists and 542 Points in 481 Games.
