BREAKING: Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid Banned From Specific TV ads
Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid will lose out on a nice chunk of change after new rules come into play.
Matthews and McDavid Will Be Banned
It was just announced by reporter Rick Westhead that athletes will no longer be allowed to appear in online gambling ads in Ontario come the end of February.
Active and retired athletes will be banned from appearing in commercials promoting online gambling in Ontario as of Feb. 28, according to new Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario rules.
NHL stars Auston Matthews, Connor McDavid and Wayne Gretzky have appeared in such ads.
Matthews and McDavid make thousands doing these ads so banning them from such ads will eat into their earnings. However, this is not nationwide and other provinces will be able to still run the ads.
Eventually, this could become a nationwide rule and would certainly screw many athletes like McDavid and Matthews for millions in potential earnings.
