BREAKING: Back-To-Back Cup Champ Has Contract Terminated
A member of the 2020 and 2021 Stanley Cup-winning Tampa Bay Lightning has had his current contract terminated.
Smith Gets Contract Mutually Terminated
It has just been announced that forward Gemel Smith and his KHL team have reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.
Smith won back-to-back cups with the Lightning in 2020 and 2021 before taking his talents to Detroit in the pursuit of more ice time. He was unable to do so and was eventually moved back to the Lightning's AHL affiliate.
He then went overseas over the offseason looking to dominate the KHL but unfortunately, he was unable to do so scoring only 5 points in 15 games. It is not yet known where he will be playing next but there is a solid chance he could return to North America on an AHL contract.
