In 2015, the Dallas Stars drafted their now first line center in the 2nd round, 49th overall.
Roope Hintz took a few seasons to develop before establishing himself as a full time NHL player, but since 2020 he's been one of the most dynamic players in the league.
Last season Hintz put up 37 goals and 72 points in 80 games, and so far this season he is on pace to surpass that.
The Stars have been considered an ''old team'' for awhile, but with the emergence of this young talent, they're a serious threat in the league now.
Today the stars locked up Roope Hintz to an eight-year, $67.6 million contract extension with an AAV of $8.45 million.
