To this point, the Avalanche have been playing without long-time captain Gabriel Landeskog, who is still healing from an injury that he dealt with through the Stanley Cup run.
The devastating news is that the team has now announced that Playoff breakout star Valeri Nichushkin will miss atleast a month after undergoing ankle surgery.
Jared Bednar: Valeri Nichushkin had ankle surgery and is out a month. Bowen Byram is week-to-week (lower body) and Samuel Girard is day-to-day. Peter Baugh (@Peter_Baugh) November 8, 2022
Nichushkin has been dominant to start this season, averaging well over a point per game, and is currently a goal per game through his first 7.
The Avalanche are a bruised up team at the moment and will need to lean on their starts Cale Makar, Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen even more than usual to help them get through these next few weeks.
