BREAKING: First Suspension Of The World Junior Championship Announced
It only took one day for the first suspension-worthy play to be made and now Team Sweden has lost their top defenseman for a bit of time.
Solomonsson Suspended For Hit Versus Latvia
Yesterday 2022 2nd round pick Elias Salomonsson laid this hit against Latvia which got him tossed from the game just 25 seconds into the tournament.
The IIHF Disciplinary Panel reviewed the play and deemed it worthy of a suspension which they announced today.
The 2024 #WorldJuniors Disciplinary Panel has issued a one game suspension to Elias Salomonsson (Sweden, #3) for violating Official Playing Rule 43 against Emils Veckaktins (Latvia, #10).
Salomonsson is the Winnipeg Jets' top defensive prospect and is supposed to be a big part of Team Sweden's roster this year.
